P&Z OKs Storage Structure at Burning Tree Club; Says Pickleball is Separate Issue ↗
A revealing look at how Greenwich clubs actually deal with P&Z. The Commission voted 5-0 on 23 June 2026 to approve a 45' x 62' fabric-covered maintenance storage structure west of tee #12 — after the club had already erected it on a concrete block foundation without approval, then disassembled it following a neighbour's complaint and sought what the P&Z chair termed 'amnesty.' Approval carried conditions: a 150-foot row of green giant arborvitae for screening, a boulder demarcation line, a rain garden, and a bar on storing chemicals or fuel. Separately, the chair said the club's pickleball use may be a zoning violation because it was approved only for tennis and paddleball; the club had been playing pickleball for roughly nine years without formal approval, which the article says is consistent with practice at other Greenwich country clubs.
